Distance learning and teaching through Google Classroom is something many teachers and schools have been doing for years. However, with the recent spread of COVID-19, even more teachers (and parents) are looking for ways to support their students virtually.  As a result, digital resources are becoming more and more critical as we move forward in education.

Over the years, I have created many digital resources for online learning.  The purpose of this post is to inform you about these resources so that you can fully support your students while participating in distance learning. Paragraph of the Week: Distance Learning

For years, I used Paragraph of the Week to help my students develop their writing skills.  I recently turned my widely used resource into a digital teaching tool, perfect for Google Classroom and distance learning.

Here is how it works…

1. Share the assignment with your students through your google drive (via link, email, google classroom, etc.)
2. Students work through the assignment over the week, completing one page per day.
3. By the end of the week, students should have a completed, well-written paragraph.
4. Students can send the completed assignment back to the teacher

Reading Response Graphic Organizers: Digital Version

These graphic organizers are perfect for distance learning AND Google Classroom! They are my favorite because you can pair them with ANY book!  No matter what a student is reading, Fiction or Nonfiction, one of these sheets will do the trick!  There is an activity for each major reading comprehension skill/strategy and these are perfect for grades 4-6.

Here is how it works…

1. Share one assignment with your students through your google drive (via link, email, google classroom, etc.)

Spiral Math Review: Digital Version

I LOVE spiral review, and I spent years making all of my spiral review resources digital with Google Forms! Now, teachers can provide a quality daily review for their students without all of the grading.  Google Forms are the perfect digital resource because they are digital (obviously), they automatically grade themselves, and they provide tons of data and feedback. If you are deep in distance learning or using Google Classroom, this resource is a MUST!

Here is how it works…

1. Each week consists of 5 google forms: 4 days of Spiral Review (Monday-Thursday) and a Weekly Quiz (Friday)
2. Share one Google Form per day with your students through your google drive (via link, email, google classroom, etc.)
3. Students complete one form per day and get immediate feedback on which questions they got correct and incorrect.
4. On Friday, students take the weekly quiz which is aligned to the daily spiral review from that week.
5. Teachers can use the data to see where their students are still struggling and provide feedback.

Just like my math version, this reading daily review was created with Google Forms!  Each week includes a unique, professionally written passage with daily questions for students to answer. Each week also includes a quiz and a constructed response practice.

Here is how it works…

1. Each week consists of 6 google forms: 4 days of Review (Monday-Thursday), a Weekly Comprehension Quiz (Friday), and a Constructed Response Practice Question.
2. Share one Google Form per day with your students through your google drive (via link, email, google classroom, etc.)
3. Students complete one form per day and get immediate feedback on which questions they got correct and incorrect.
4. On Friday, students take the weekly quiz which is aligned to the daily spiral review from that week.
5. The constructed response question can be assigned at any time throughout the week.
6. Teachers can use the data to see where their students are still struggling and provide feedback.
